Peter C. Kinnick passed away on September 5, 2014 near Telluride, Colorado while doing one of the many things he loved to do, hiking in the mountains.  His generous heart simply gave out.  Peter was an adventurer, a world traveler, a person with a consumptive thirst for history, knowledge and spirituality.  He was a generous man of heart and spirit who brought together countless people from all parts of his life.  Through Peter, strangers became friends.  He was the consummate host, the open door, the conduit of friendships.  His early death is a shock to all of who knew him and appreciated his distinctive manner. Never a bad word, Peter always pursued his own interests without judgment of others, and possessed a gentleness that evoked a different time.  Peter was born on June 30th 1953 to George William Kinnick and Jean Pollock Kinnick.  Peter was a graduate of Westside High School and Colgate University.  In addition to Omaha and Telluride, Peter loved spending time in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, his farm in Iowa and on golf courses both here and abroad. He is preceded in death by both his mother and father.  He leaves behind his beloved sister Betsy Kinnick; his chosen family Anne Moffatt and his daughter, Ally Moffatt, his aunt Jody (Pollock) Pringle and numerous Lake Geneva relatives.  Peter also leaves behind countless friends whom he loved and loved him.

GoFundMe from R.S. Moffat, Gunnison CO:
My niece's daughter, Ally(15 yrs), being a typical teenager, snuck out of her home at about 1am, and met up with someone she had never met before...a 19 year old Airman from Offatt Air Base.  The Airman's car broke down on a highway.  A good samaritan stopped to give aid to the vehicle.  That cost him his life.  A tow truck driver, who was described in the news article as weaving down the road at 3am, plowed directly into the Airman's vehicle, killing the Airman, the good Samitan, and the tow truck ran over my niece's (Annie) daughter, causing 9 fractures.  Both legs were broken badly (right leg femur where the bone meets the knee),  both arms broken,  L1-L2-L3-L4 vertibrae all fractured,  broken rib, and severe brain trauma.    That was 80 days ago, and my niece Annie has been by her (adopted) daughter's side ever since.
Now it appears, from Dr's reports, that Ally has suffered grave brain damage.  Fluids have surrounded her brain (blood and spinal fluid) and her brain has atrophied.   The insurance companies are backing away due to this discovery, and it looks like my niece will be taking care of Ally for the rest of her life.
I strongly believe that an Attorney needs to be brought in on this to aid my niece!  I have asked for a lot of money, but it needs to help Anne.  This has been tragedy upon tragedy, and Anne has weathered the storm bravely, but she needs help!  Ally Moffatt is on caring Bridge if you want to read the reports.
