Attended Racine College, studied law at Albany Law School (LL.B.) During the Civil War he served at lieutenant. At Albany he was a classmate of President McKinley.
Chicago Legal News, vol 43: “Well known corporation lawyer” died at his home, 1631 East Forty-eighth Street, Wednesday of heart failure after an illness of ten days. He came to Chicago in 1870. At one time was president of the Chicago Bar Association.
He is survived by a widow and three children, Bessie, Margaret and Frederick, Jr. Active pallbrearers were his nephews, Herbert J. Ullmann, Isaac Ullmann, Nelson B. Bigelow, John Baxter, Henry J. Ullmann and Guy E. Summers.
Joined the Union army as Jr. 2nd Lt. October 9th of 1863 and served in Company C, 1st Heavy Artillery of the Wisconsin Volunteers. Served until March 22, 1865, when he was mustered out as First Lieutenant.
