Mabel Karin Stallcup (Erickson) was born August 12, 1894, in Tacoma, Washington. She graduated from Tacoma High School in 1912. She married to Evan S. Stallcup on June 1, 1918 and moved with him to Phoenix, Arizona where she resided for the next fifty years.
In 1941, Mabel began her professional career as an aide and technical advisor to five Arizona governors: Sidney P. Osborn, Dan E. Garvey, Howard Pyle, Ernest W. McFarland and Paul J. Fannin. She served these Democratic and Republican governors as Extraditions Clerk, handling vital legal matters and writing thousands of official state proclamations. In 1964, after twenty- four continuous years of service, Mabel retired. She passed away seven months later in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of seventy.
